NASN2026 is the premier professional development event for school nurses and school health leaders, bringing together colleagues from across the country to learn, connect, and recharge. Screen, Prevent, Care: Innovations in Pediatric type 1 Diabetes for the School Nurse

Presented by:  Dr. Christine March, Assistant Professor, Pediatric endocrinologist at UPMC
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
In this webinar, Dr. March will review recent innovations in screening, prevention, and management of type 1 diabetes. She will review the science behind screening for early-stage type 1 diabetes and new research/treatments to prevent progression of the disease in asymptomatic children. For children with type 1 diabetes, Dr. March will briefly review new interventions for integrated care between diabetes centers and schools. Practical considerations for nurses will be discussed, including the NH DOE toolkit, raising awareness about type 1 diabetes screening, and providing resources for those interested in learning more.
